Moving Tips
47Deciding on a Moving Company or a Truck Rental
Moving Tip - If you are going to hire a local or long distance mover, you have a few options to chose from. While full service movers (professional moving) and do-it-yourself moving are the most common types of moves, do it yourself moving(getting a rental truck) has become increasingly popular due to cost. Which move you choose will depend on your budget, availability, and the size of your move. Professional moving company's are going to be responsible for the entire moving process: loading the truck, driving it, and unloading your items at your new home and putting all items where they belong in the new house. And most moving companies also offer new or used boxes as well as professional packing services.
Professional movers are licensed specifically for these types of moves, and they are specifically trained to handle large appliances and fragile items as well as all your worldly possessions. Most importantly, they offer specialized insurance to protect your valuables during the move. While full service moves are sometimes more expensive; saving time, avoiding hassle, and protecting your items may be worth the money.
Do it yourself Moving / Moving Tip - If adhering to a strict budget is your primary consideration, consider a do it yourself move or truck rental. You are responsible for renting or borrowing a truck, packing your home, driving to your new home and loading and unloading your items—even large pieces of furniture and heavy appliances. With the help of a few friends and family members, a DIY move can be a great experience but don't forget it is alot of work. You will be responsible for driving a rental truck or hauling a trailer over the distance of your move. If you are inexperienced or nervous about driving, you may want to reconsider a DIY move. Renting a truck and providing your own labor may save money on the base cost of your move, but you might miss work to plan and execute your move. And don't to forget to factor in fuel the truck will take to get you to your new destination.
So take the above considerations into mind when deciding how you are going to move. That way you have an advanced plan and you are not stuck at the last minute trying to figure out what to do.
If you are moving locally within your county (usually within 100 miles) moving company's charge you by the hour depending on how many men you need. If you are moving over 100 miles and out of state a reputable mover will charge you based on the weight you ship. You can find the movers tarrif on the D.O.T. website as it is the law that they publish these tarrifs. Also please don't forget to check your local B.B.B. to see the reputation about the mover you may choose.

Your tips are great and you were very helpful, thank you for making this easy for me.
I'm so excited to move!! I've moved myself before, and why do it myself?! It's a waste of my personal time and my back hurt for days. I didn't want to consider movers because I thought it was going to be expensive wow, I'm so glad I'm not! I rather ask my friends to help me open up a bottle of champagne while I move and celebrate!
You have no idea how much stress you took off my shoulders. Thank you!!!!!!
